Star Wars Begins…Again, and 1980’s Mania

Hello everyone, and welcome to the weekly WAWA. I will be your guest editor for this weekly column (in English), Mr. Dante. I’ll be sharing some tasty tidbits from the interwebs, where Japan and LA collide. From crazy tech, to celeb nut jobs, to tasty eats; I’ll bring some heat to send you into your weekend on fire V.V

My Star Wars fandom began in 1983 when I saw Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi at the AMC Movie Theatre in Marina Del Rey, CA. I was five, probably, NO definitely too young to see the movie that my parents took me too. I can still remember Darth revealing himself as Luke’s father 31 years later. Needless to say, Star Wars was and became a pop culture bohemoth. This week, Lucas Films and Disney released the 2nd Official teaser trailer for Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens. Enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngElkyQ6Rhs      Being that it’s the week of Star Wars, check out this craze in good old Nippon. I want to try a similar Star Wars theme for my daughter next year for Hinamatsuri day. http://kotaku.com/nothing-says-japanese-culture-like-star-wars-1697927052      For you gamers out there, Star Wars: Battlefront launches November 17th. Developed by EA DICE, the studio best known for the Battlefield series of first-person shooters, it looks just like the movies and otaku are pretty excited: http://www.theverge.com/2015/4/17/8439267/star-wars-battlefront-release-date-2015      With Star Wars mania at a fever pitch, people are talking 80’s. 1980’s shows, songs and styles are hot once again. Like the moon and the tides, neon colors, retro video games, synthesizers and acid-washed denim have their respective cycles in hearts and minds of people here in LA, and abroad. For a hefty dose of 80’s nostalgia AND a great read this weekend, check out Ready Player One: A Novel by Ernest Cline: http://www.amazon.com/Ready-Player-One-A-Novel/dp/0307887448      To complete this inaugural post, let’s all just reflect in the amaze of the HOFF: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTidn2dBYbY      Till next time MAMA NATION. – Mr. Dante
